A gentle fact-check, never a block

When you are caring for someone with complex needs, you read a lot. Forums, group chats, that article a relative swore by, the thing a stranger insisted "cured" their child. Some of it helps. Some of it has been studied carefully and shown to be wrong — sometimes harmless, sometimes not. Sorting the good from the bad is exhausting, and it is not your job to be a clinical researcher on top of everything else you carry.

On this page

So CareHaven offers a small, quiet hand here. When you write down a treatment or an approach you are considering, and the words happen to match something the medical community has documented as misinformation — a debunked "cure," a diet claim that has been studied and found harmful — CareHaven may show you a gentle notice. Not a wall. Not a warning siren. Just a soft heads-up that says, in effect: hey, there is some good reading on this, here is a trustworthy place to start.

That is the whole feeling of it. A respectful friend who happened to read the same thing you did, and who knows where the reliable information lives.

What it actually does

The notice gives you one authoritative, trustworthy source — a single link you can tap to read more. Not ten tabs of conflicting opinions. Not a lecture. One good source, chosen because it is well-regarded and worth your limited time, so you can decide for yourself with better information in front of you. Available

You stay in charge of the whole thing. Read the source or do not. Keep what you wrote exactly as it is. Save, edit, plan, share — nothing changes about what you can do. The notice never blocks you, never stops you from saving, never makes you click anything, and never gets in the way of the next step. You can carry on without giving it a second thought.

It defers to your care team — always

CareHaven is not your doctor, and it does not pretend to be. The notice never overrides the people who actually know your loved one — the physician, the therapist, the specialist. If your care team has guided you toward something, their judgment comes first, full stop. The notice is only there to make sure you have seen the well-documented information, not to second-guess the professionals who know your situation.

If you are weighing something genuinely hard, that is exactly the kind of moment to bring to your care team. Working through a care decision walks through how CareHaven can help you organize your thinking before that conversation — without ever making the call for you.

It never judges, and never touches your private notes

There is no scolding here, and there is no scorecard. You are not being graded, flagged for review, or treated like you got something wrong. Caregivers try things, hope things, and reconsider things — that is what loving someone through a hard diagnosis looks like, and CareHaven holds that gently.

And this matters: the notice never reads your diary or your personal, private notes. Your reflections, your hard days, the things you write just to get them out of your head — those are yours, untouched. CareHaven only looks at care-approach and treatment text, and only to be helpful with it. Nothing else is part of this.

This check runs from your device's own local knowledge base and stays private. There is no list of "claims" being sent anywhere, nothing reported, nothing stored against you. You can read more about how all of this is kept close in Privacy & security, and about the careful way CareHaven reasons in How CareHaven thinks.

When you want to look closer

If a notice makes you curious and you want to dig in, Search & Ask CareHaven is there to help you explore the topic in your own words, at your own pace. And for the bigger picture of how CareHaven supports families navigating autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and other complex conditions, see Special needs support.

The point is never to police what you write. It is to carry a little more of the mental load — to be the quiet friend who says "here is a good source" and then steps back, so the decision, as always, stays yours and your care team's.
