Make it yours (themes & customization)

CareHaven should feel like yours, not like a generic dashboard. You can change how it looks, pick which tools sit front and center, and quietly hide the parts you do not need. None of this changes your care data. It only changes what you see and where you find it. Available

Pick a color theme

CareHaven comes with eight color themes, each with its own soft background and accent color. Available

• Haven
• Forest
• Ocean
• Sunrise
• Blossom
• Terracotta
• Twilight
• Midnight

Choose the one that feels calm to you. Each theme carries its own gentle background, so the app picks up a little of your personality. Every theme is built to stay readable, and each one has a version made for dark mode.

You can also make a custom theme. Tap menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → Appearance → Theme, choose a custom color, and use the color wheel to tune it. Saved custom themes stay available, and CareHaven keeps checking the colors against light and dark mode so the app remains readable. Available

Light, dark, or follow your phone

Separate from the color theme, you can set how light or dark the app is:

• Light keeps things bright.
• Dark is easier on the eyes at night.
• System follows whatever your iPhone is already set to, so the app dims when your phone does.

You can also toggle light and dark quickly from the 🌙 button in the header, without opening Settings. Available

A few more display and text choices live in the same place:

• Text Size — Normal, Large, or Extra Large. This affects all the text throughout the app, so you can make words larger everywhere at once.
• Color Vision Mode — Normal, Protanopia, Deuteranopia, or Tritanopia. This adjusts the app's color palette so it stays clear for color blindness. There is more about these palettes on the Accessibility page.
• Timeline Window — Today, 3 Days, or 7 Days. This controls how far back the home timeline reaches when it shows your entries.

A couple of switches turn extra tools on or off:

• Show Bottle Tracking adds a separate bottle log (in ounces) to the Feeding tab.
• Show Pumping Tracker adds a Pumping tab for logging breast-milk sessions — duration, amount, where it went, and notes.

And the Bottom Nav Customizer lets you reorder and change which features are pinned to the bottom bar. Available

Set how your week begins

Some people read a calendar starting on Sunday, others on Monday. You can choose which day your week starts on, and the schedule and day views will follow your choice. Available

Choose which hubs you see

The Main Menu pill (bottom left) opens the hub list — Home, Schedule, To-dos, Track, Care Plan, Medical, Body Care, Mental Health, Memory Care, Feeding, Caregiver, Team, Insurance, Safety, and more. You decide which hubs show up there per person. Available

To customize: tap menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → Menus → Main Menu. Select the person you want to edit at the top of the screen, then show, hide, or reorder hubs. The hubs you show sit one tap away in the Main Menu; hidden hubs are simply out of sight — nothing is deleted.

For most families it helps to surface the hubs you open daily and hide the ones you rarely need. You can always come back and show a hub again the same way.

You can also customize what appears in the + quick-log grid: tap menu icon → Settings → Menus → Quick Log (+) to show or hide individual log types. Available

Hide menu items you don't use

If a menu feels crowded, you can tidy it. Tap menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → Menus → Main Menu or Quick Log (+) to hide individual items, so you only see the tools you actually use. Available

Hiding an item never deletes anything. If you change your mind, go back to the same screen and turn it on again.

Customize Sections — and the sections that stay

Inside each hub, you can show or hide individual sections to match how your family uses the app. To reach this: tap the menu icon (top right when inside a hub) -> Settings -> Customize Sections. You can also reach the same controls from menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → Menus → Hub sub-sections.

Each row shows the section name and a three-way toggle: Auto (the app decides based on your person's profile), Show (always visible), or Hide (tucked away). Available

CareHaven auto-fits these sections to each person. A 9-year-old's profile does not show Falls or PAINAD; an elderly profile with cognitive trouble does; a profile with ARFID lights up the Feeding hub's clinical surfaces. The app makes these guesses from the person's age, diagnoses, and sex — and you can override any one of them.

• Auto is the default. The app decides whether a section shows, based on the person's age, diagnoses, and sex.
• Show forces a section visible no matter what — handy when you want to track something the defaults wouldn't suggest.
• Hide forces a section out of sight no matter what — handy when a default doesn't fit your situation.

If you ever want to start over, each section header has a Reset to Auto button that clears every manual override in that section and hands visibility back to the automatic rules.

These choices are kept per person. When you change a toggle for one profile, it does not touch any other profile, and a brand-new profile starts fresh with everything on Auto. To pick whose sections you are editing, use the Editing for picker at the top of the screen.

Some sections cannot be hidden — they show a lock icon instead of a toggle. These are the sections that cover emergencies, critical monitoring, medication, and feeding safety. Around 30 sections across the hubs are anchored this way: all Safety hub sections, the core Medical hub sections, several Body Care and Feeding sections, and the Watch For section in Care Plan and Dementia. A lock means the section stays visible no matter what — it is there when someone needs it, even if a co-caregiver or a substitute caregiver does not know to look.

If a section you had previously hidden is now locked, you will see a one-time notice the next time you open that person's profile. It tells you what changed and why. You do not need to do anything — the section is simply visible again.

General Caregiver Mode

Tap: menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → General Caregiver Mode

CareHaven was built with special-needs caregiving in mind, so some screens are made for specific situations. If those do not fit your life, you can turn on General Caregiver Mode. Available

This is an opt-out switch that hides the special-needs-specific tools, leaving a simpler app focused on everyday care. The screens are not gone for good. Turn the mode back off and they return.

Focus Mode

Tap: menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings → Appearance → Focus Mode

On a hard day, even helpful extras can feel like noise. Focus Mode strips the decorative cards from your Home screen and holds back the small pop-ups the app might otherwise offer, so the screen stays quiet. Available

With Focus Mode on, Home keeps to the essentials. The at-a-glance attention cards are limited too, so at most one shows at a time instead of two. You can read more about those cards on The Home screen.

It honors your accessibility settings

You do not have to set these up inside CareHaven. The app reads the choices you have already made on your iPhone and follows them.

• Larger text. Turn up text size in your iPhone settings and CareHaven's words grow with it. The app is built to stay readable and reflow neatly even at the largest text sizes. Available
• Reduce Motion. If you have asked your phone to cut back on movement, CareHaven honors it. The gentle tilt and float of cards and menus, and the small animations in features like the seizure timer, calm down or turn off. Available

Almost all of this sits in one place: menu icon (top left, three lines) → Settings. Inside Settings:

• Appearance — color scheme (light / dark / system), theme, week start, text size, Focus Mode
• General Caregiver Mode — toggle to hide special-needs-specific tools (sits directly in Settings, not inside Appearance)
• Menus — show, hide, and reorder items in the Main Menu and the + quick-log grid, per person

The accessibility pieces come from your iPhone's own settings and carry over on their own. Take a few minutes once, and the app will fit the way you work from then on.
